A Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office investigation into alleged witness tampering has led to the arrest of a Syracuse man.

Deputies say 39-year-old Gregory Delee was taken into custody Tuesday on an arrest warrant following a months-long investigation.

Authorities say the case began in January, when they received reports that Delee had been contacting the protected party of a full stay-away order of protection while he was incarcerated at the Cayuga County Jail.

As a result of the investigation, Delee was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a Class E felony; Intimidating a Witness in the Third Degree, a Class E felony; Tampering with a Witness in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and Conspiracy in the Sixth Degree, a Class B misdemeanor.

Following his arrest, Delee was held at the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
