UPDATE: Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Hits RTS Bus, Pedestrian in Rochester

Scary moments in downtown Rochester on Tuesday.  At 11 a.m., members of the New York State Police Troop E Community Stabilization Unit attempted a vehicle and traffic stop on a Chevrolet Trax in the city of Rochester for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

The suspect vehicle, driven by David Robinson, 42, of Rochester, failed to comply and ran a red light at the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Clifford Avenue, striking a Regional Transit Service (RTS) bus.

Following the initial collision, the RTS bus struck a female pedestrian near the intersection before coming to rest against a fence on church property. There was no reported damage to the church building. The pedestrian was trapped beneath the bus and was extricated by the Rochester Fire Department. She was conscious at the scene but sustained serious injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The RTS bus, occupied only by the driver, also sustained minor injuries. The driver was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

David Robinson was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Forensic Identification Unit, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to the scene. The investigation into the incident remains active.
