SHARE NOW

On Sunday, the Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Emily Oakes, 36, of Lyons, following a domestic incident investigation.

Authorities allege that Oakes unlawfully removed a child from the residence of a legal guardian. During the course of the incident, Oakes is also accused of stealing property that did not belong to her.

Oakes has been charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, a class C felony; Custodial Interference in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor; and Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Oakes was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
