Ithaca Stabbing Leads to Attempted Murder Charge

A 58-year-old Ithaca man is facing attempted murder and assault charges after a stabbing early Sunday at an apartment complex on East Green Street, according to the Ithaca Police Department.

Police said officers were called to the 100 block of East Green Street around 1:37 a.m. for a reported stabbing. When they arrived, they found a victim who had been stabbed with a knife. Investigators said the suspect and victim knew each other and that the incident was isolated. The victim was taken to a regional trauma center and was listed in stable condition. A short time later, officers located 58-year-old Ithaca resident Duane Magee at the Seneca Street Parking Garage and took him into custody.

Magee was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree attempted murder, both Class B felonies. He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail.
