On Friday, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested two women following a joint investigation into living conditions at a Hopewell residence.
The arrests of Linda Kline, 81, and Rosalie Kline, 48, both of Canandaigua, stem from a search warrant executed on Crabapple Drive on February 5. During that initial investigation, the Ontario County Humane Society seized nine dogs and one cat from the home. The Town of Hopewell Code Enforcement Office subsequently deemed the residence uninhabitable for humans.
Both women are charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Animal Cruelty, both of which are misdemeanors. Child Protective Services was also contacted regarding the incident.
The Klines were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
