On Tuesday, Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Penn Yan man for allegedly violating an order of protection while at the Yates County Jail.
Christopher Castle, 32, was taken into custody following an investigation into prohibited communications. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Yates County Correctional Officers intercepted multiple text messages, phone calls, and video calls between Castle and a protected party.
The information provided by the corrections staff led to a thorough investigation by deputies, resulting in the charge of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. Castle was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
