Auburn High School will soon be inundated with a Blizzard of Sound.
For the first time, the Auburn Music Boosters and Auburn Indoor Percussion will host a New York State Percussion Circuit competition at Auburn High School, titled Blizzard of Sound. The event will showcase 13 indoor percussion groups from across Central New York.
“We are thrilled to welcome these talented performers to Auburn for the first time,” said Bennett Coughlin, director of the Auburn Indoor Percussion program. “The ‘Blizzard of Sound’ is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of the hard work, discipline, and artistic creativity these students pour into their craft all season long.”
Unlike traditional outdoor marching bands, the Auburn Enlarged City School District said the indoor nature of the event will give the audience an up-close view of the action, with each group presenting a themed program that utilizes a wide array of instruments and props.
The event will also include an exhibition performance by the Auburn Winter Guard program.
The event is open to the public and begins at 1:00p on February 21 at the high school gymnasium. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door.
