A Sodus man was arrested late Saturday night after a property damage crash prompted a DWI investigation in Wayne County.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the area of South Geneva Road and Stell Road in the town of Sodus around 11:27 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies were investigating a property damage motor vehicle accident when they made contact with 42-year-old Kristopher Skilins.
A standardized field sobriety test determined Skilins was intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office. He later provided a breath sample that showed a blood alcohol content of .17 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
Skilins was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC above .08 percent, failure to maintain lane, speed not reasonable and prudent, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree.
He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and was scheduled for centralized arraignment Saturday morning.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
