From the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, a boil water notice is in effect for residents and businesses in the village of Rushville from 10 South Main Street south to the village line.
Health officials warn that microbes in drinking water can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, headaches, and other gastrointestinal issues. Infants, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems may be at greater risk. Anyone experiencing persistent symptoms is advised to seek medical attention.
Until further notice, residents should bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, then allow it to cool before using it. Boiled or bottled water certified by the New York State Department of Health should be used for:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Preparing food
