A 32-year-old Geneva woman has been charged following an investigation into an alleged welfare fraud case.
Ontario County Sheriff’s investigators say Maddisson Murray of West Avenue was arrested after a referral from the Ontario County Department of Social Services.
Authorities say Murray failed to report new employment and income between Aug. 2 and Oct. 31, 2025, while receiving public assistance benefits.
Investigators say that had the income been properly reported, Murray would have received $366 less in benefits between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31, 2025.
Murray was charged with petit larceny and fifth-degree welfare fraud.
She will answer the charges at a later court date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
