Time is running out to nominate a Cayuga County volunteer for the annual Fred Atkins Community Service Award.
The award is given by Unity House in memory of volunteer and 30-year Unity House board member Fred Atkins, who passed away in 2009. Unity House says the award “recognizes an outstanding Cayuga County volunteer who exemplifies Fred’s high moral standards and philanthropic spirit” and is open to Cayuga County volunteers who act as community service role models for others and demonstrate integrity, compassion, and leadership.
Nomination forms must be completed by February 11. Nomination information can be found on Unity House’s website. Anyone with questions is asked to call 315-253-6227 ext 313.
The recipient will be honored at the nonprofit’s annual board dinner, to be held on the last Monday in April. They will also receive $1,000 – $500 for themselves and $500 to be given to a charity of their choice.
