A Farmington man has been arrested after deputies say he violated an order of protection.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that 23-year-old Ryan Merced-Gomez turned himself in at the Ontario County Jail on Monday. Deputies say he violated a full stay-away order of protection by contacting the protected person through a third-party messaging app.
Merced-Gomez was charged with second-degree criminal contempt.
He was held at the Ontario County Jail on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
