Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci has announced the promotion of longtime prosecutor Amanda Casselman to Chief of Local Courts.

Casselman has over ten years of experience as a prosecutor, focusing primarily on vehicular crimes. She has spent the past eight years with the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, serving as the primary Assistant District Attorney in Auburn City Court. In addition, she has handled cases in 18 of the county’s 27 town and village courts, worked with specialty courts, and prosecuted cases in County Court.

She also serves on the Cayuga County Traffic Safety Board and the Cayuga County STOP DWI program. In her new role as Chief of Local Courts, Casselman will oversee the training of newer assistant district attorneys in local courts and continue her work on community outreach, including STOP DWI prevention efforts and educational programs.

The DA’s Office also welcomed Amber Benjamin, who joined in August 2025 as a Certified Law Associate. Benjamin will become an Assistant District Attorney upon her admission to the New York State Bar in April. She earned her undergraduate degree from Keuka College and her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law and is looking forward to beginning her prosecutorial career in Cayuga County.
