Entrepreneurs in Wayne County will once again have a chance to compete for startup funding through the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation’s Adult Pitch Competition.
Now in its seventh year, the competition gives county residents who have recently started or plan to start a business the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for cash awards and business development support.
The first-place winner will receive $20,000, with a second award of $5,000 also available.
In addition to the competition itself, applicants are required to attend one SCORE workshop designed to help participants strengthen business plans, financials and pitching skills. The in-person workshops connect entrepreneurs with mentors and advisors who can provide guidance beyond the competition.
Economic development officials say past winners have continued to grow, with recent recipients expanding operations and opening brick-and-mortar locations.
Applications for the Adult Pitch Competition are due by 4 p.m. on March 6.
