The Keuka College Women’s Basketball team earned a 72–61 Empire 8 road victory over SUNY Poly on Saturday.
Sophomore Lillian Mullen, a Canisteo native, led the Wolves with 23 points, one shy of her career high, as Keuka improved to 7–9 overall and 2–6 in conference play. Emilee Bacon added a career-best 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Keuka College jumped out to an early 12–2 lead, with senior Mary Cotter scoring seven of those points. The Wolves later extended the lead to 21–7 following a three-pointer from Mullen. SUNY Poly closed the first quarter with four free throws, but Keuka led 21–11 after one.
Cotter opened the second quarter with a three to halt any momentum for the Wildcats. The quarter was low scoring, with both teams tied at nine points apiece, and Keuka took a 30–20 lead into halftime.
Scoring picked up in the third quarter as SUNY Poly connected on a pair of three-pointers to cut the deficit to four points. Mullen answered just 16 seconds later with another three, pushing the lead back to seven. Keuka carried that advantage into the fourth quarter.
The Wolves maintained control for most of the final period. While SUNY Poly pulled within four points, Keuka closed the game strong, going 16-for-18 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to secure the 72–61 conference win.
The victory snapped a four-game losing streak to SUNY Poly and marked Keuka’s first win over the Wildcats since the 2018–19 season. Keuka now leads the all-time series 20–15.
Mullen finished 5-for-8 from three-point range, setting a new career high for made threes in a game. While Bacon recorded the double-double, Brooke Burd led the Wolves in rebounding with 15 boards. Keuka held a 49–33 rebounding advantage overall.
Mary Cotter and Emiley Anderson also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Keuka shot 23-for-25 from the free throw line, the third-best free throw percentage in a single game in program history.
Up next, the Wolves return home to host Elmira College in Empire 8 action Tuesday. Tipoff at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center is set for 5:30 p.m.
