Yates County firefighters were called to a house fire around 6 p.m. Saturday at 4566 Flynn Road in the Town of Milo.
When crews arrived at Curvin Sensenig’s home, they found the fire had started on a couch inside the home. Firefighters stayed on scene for over an hour, working to put out the fire. The two-story, single-family house sustained heavy damage.
Three people were inside the home at the time but were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
The Yates County Fire Investigation Team was called in, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Agencies assisting at the scene included Penn Yan Fire, Bellona Fire, Branchport Fire, Dresden Fire, Himrod Fire, Benton Fire, Yates County Office of Emergency Management, the Yates County Fire Investigation Team, and Penn Yan Ambulance. A Yates County Sheriff’s Office deputy also responded to the incident.
