Auburn Police, City Reminding Residents to Follow Rules in School Zones

SHARE NOW

The City of Auburn and the Auburn Police Department are reminding residents to watch for children while driving in school zones.

As the school year continues, the city is reminding motorists to obey school crossing guards and offers the following safety tips:

  • Please take care and be alert at all times. The safety of our children is first and foremost.
  • School Zones are posted throughout the City and you must obey the maximum speed limit of 20mph in all school zones.
  • Always obey school crossing guards; they are there to keep our children safe.
  • School crossing guards will make every attempt to minimize disruptions in traffic flow. There are times, however, when traffic must be brought to a stop to allow children to cross the street. Please be patient.

Officials are also reminding motorists that fines for speeding in school zones can reach as high as $600, result in up to 30 days in jail, and add 11 points to a driver’s license.
