Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Arrest in Auburn

SHARE NOW

Auburn police arrested a woman early Sunday morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and an outstanding warrant.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Fulton and East Genesee streets for a taillight violation. During the stop, officers identified the front-seat passenger as Amber Klein and determined she had an active warrant for her arrest issued by New York State Police in North Syracuse.

Klein was taken into custody, and a subsequent search reportedly uncovered a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance concealed in her waistband. Police said the substance tested positive for powdered cocaine, with an aggregate weight of approximately 4.1 grams.

Klein was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on an appearance ticket for the drug charge before being turned over to State Police on the outstanding warrant.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
