The Keuka College men’s basketball team dropped a 71-54 decision to Nazareth University on the road.
Lamar Lovelace (Rochester, N.Y./Northeast College Prep) paced the Wolves with 20 points, while Caleb Nutifafa (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) posted his first double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Nazareth University (11-4, 6-0 E8) opened the contest with a 7-0 run before Quinn VanKerkhove (Irondequoit, N.Y./Irondequoit) knocked down a three-pointer to get Keuka College (6-9, 3-3 E8) on the board. Midway through the first half, the Golden Flyers extended their lead to 14 following a 13-3 run and continued to build momentum, stretching the advantage to 20 with three minutes left in the half.
The Wolves responded by closing the opening period on an 8-0 run. The surge included a tip-in from Caleb Nutifafa, a three-pointer from Lamar Lovelace, and another three from Noreon Williams (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger), sending Keuka into halftime trailing 32-20.
Nazareth came out strong in the second half, maintaining its offensive rhythm. Keuka cut the deficit to 10 with 14 minutes remaining, but the Golden Flyers answered with a 24-15 run down the stretch to secure the conference victory.
Both teams opened the game aggressively, trading baskets and tying the score at 11-11 within the first five minutes. Lovelace led Keuka early, scoring nine points during that stretch.
