A Watkins Glen man admitted to intentionally setting two fires last summer, including one at a home where people were inside.
47-year-old Ryan Alverson pleaded guilty to third-degree arson, a Class C felony, in Schuyler County Court, according to the District Attorney’s Office
Prosecutors said the case stems from an August 6 incident in which Alverson intentionally started a fire that damaged a residence and a separate fire that damaged a vehicle. Several people were inside the home at the time. Authorities said the occupants were able to suppress both fires, and no one was injured.
Alverson entered the guilty plea on January 15 in Schuyler County Court. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 26.
The arson charge carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in state prison, according to the release.
