The Seneca Falls Fire Department will receive a $15,000 donation this year from Seneca Meadows landfill to help maintain reliable fire protection, officials announced Thursday.
The annual contribution from the local landfill continues a partnership that began nearly two decades ago. Funds will go toward replacing large‑diameter hose used on fire trucks, a critical tool for delivering water at emergency scenes.
Since 2007, Seneca Meadows has donated a total of about $270,000 to the department, according to the fire department’s announcement.
“Seneca Meadows is a valued partner with the Seneca Falls Fire Department, and their incessant drive toward safety is a benefit for all town residents,” District Chief Steve Farnsworth said in the announcement.
Representatives from the fire department and Seneca Meadows were on hand for recognition of the donation, including Deputy Chief Allen Larsen, District Chief Farnsworth, Seneca Meadows community relations representative Mark Benjamin, and landfill District Manager Kyle Black.
Seneca Meadows, one of New York’s largest landfills and a long‑time community supporter, also contributes to local initiatives and services under host community agreements with Seneca Falls and Waterloo.
