The Empire 8 Conference announced on Monday that Keuka College senior Lamar Lovelace of Rochester, N.Y. (Northeast College Prep) has been named the conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Lovelace opened the weekend with a record-setting performance, scoring 41 points in a win over Russell Sage College. The mark set a new Keuka College single-game scoring record, surpassing Kyle Bower’s 40 points against Elmira College on December 14, 1990. Lovelace’s 41 points were also the most by an Empire 8 player in a single game since November 2021. He added nine rebounds in the 105-100 victory.

He followed that up with a team-high 21 points and 13 rebounds as the Wolves defeated Hartwick College to complete the conference weekend sweep. That game marked Lovelace’s first career double-double.

For the season, Lovelace is averaging 20.3 points per game, second in the Empire 8, while leading Keuka with 244 total points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Wolves remain at home Tuesday for a game against SUNY Brockport before traveling to face Nazareth University and St. John Fisher University over the weekend.
