A 54-year-old Geneva man was arrested early Saturday after a traffic stop in the town of Palmyra, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they stopped a vehicle around 2:33 a.m. Jan. 10 on Galloway Road after the driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Following an investigation, deputies determined the driver was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Neudy Garcia of Geneva was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop at a stop sign, operating without an ignition interlock device, unlicensed operation, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change.
Garcia was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where deputies said he voluntarily submitted to a chemical test that showed a blood alcohol content of .13%.
He was held for Centralized Arraignment Part court at 7 a.m. Jan. 10 and is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
