The City of Ithaca announced Thursday they are launching a new Housing Development Dashboard designed to give the public easier access to information about housing inventory, development activity, and affordability across the city.
City officials say the interactive dashboard provides an overview of existing housing as well as recent and projected development.
“The Department has always been a great repository for development data. Now we have the ability to make our vision of a more publicly accessible, easy-to-use dashboard a reality,” Lisa Nicholas, director of planning and development for the City of Ithaca said.
The dashboard allows users to explore overall housing inventory and project-specific details, including unit type, affordability level, and construction progress. Additional metrics, including non-residential development and building electrification, are expected to be added in future updates.
“We are calling this a pilot because we anticipate updating the dashboard in the first few months in response to user input,” said Sam Quinn-Jacobs, a city planner who created the dashboard.
Mayor Robert Cantelmo said the tool will serve as a valuable resource for elected officials, residents, and community members.
“This dashboard highlights the enormous progress the City has made toward addressing our housing and affordability crisis,” Cantelmo said. “The public can now see that our policies are working and that comprehensive housing reform is essential to building and sustaining an Ithaca for everyone.”
The Housing Development Dashboard Pilot is publicly accessible through the City of Ithaca’s website.
