Registration is now open for the Owasco Watershed Lake Association’s (OWLA) annual Bob Brower Scientific Symposium.
The annual event aims to update the public on the lake’s health and inform attendees on how they can help strengthen the lake’s climate change resiliency. This year’s theme is “Owasco Lake: Action is Hope.”
The event will be MCed by Gilda Brower. Speakers include:
Adam Effler and Jesse Lloyd of the Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council will provide an update on the status of the watershed’s rules and regulations and a review of 9E Coordination Committee projects.
Seth Jensen of the City of Auburn will touch on the city’s goals to preserve the lake and continue to work for its health.
Rick Smith of Global Aquatic Research will discuss HABs and foam in the Fingerlakes and what research is needed to help mitigate cHABs.
Matt Del Buona of the Cornell HWA Initiative will discuss collaborative strategies to protect Hemlock trees from Hemlock Woolly Adelgids through management strategies, monitoring techniques, as well as biocontrol updates and results.
The symposium will be held from 9:00a-12:00p on March 14at Auburn Public Theater. People can also attend virtually via Zoom. Registration for the free event can be done here.
