The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Town of Palmyra man following an investigation into a 911 hang-up call.
Deputies arrested 44-year-old James DeJohn on a charge of harassment in the second degree.
Sheriff’s officials say the charge stems from a domestic incident in which DeJohn is accused of subjecting the victim to unwanted physical contact. Investigators allege DeJohn struck the victim with a glove and kneed her in the side during an altercation.
The victim was able to dial 911 and hang up, prompting deputies to respond to the scene and initiate an investigation.
DeJohn was taken to the Wayne County Jail, where he was arraigned and later released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to Palmyra Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
