Ithaca Police say officers rescued a woman who reported being held against her will inside an apartment on East Green Street on New Year’s Day.
Police were investigating a suspicious situation at about 8:30 p.m. at 118 East Green Street when officers inside the building heard a woman yelling from an apartment that she was being held against her will and needed help. Officers forced entry into the apartment and safely removed the woman. Police say she was not injured.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Travis Thompson of Ithaca, was taken into custody on active warrants issued out of Cortland County and Cortland City Court. Police say additional charges related to the incident are pending.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department. Tips can be provided anonymously.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
