Southern Tier Couple Arrested in Burglary at Chemung Masonic Lodge

SHARE NOW

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Southern Tier husband and wife following a burglary at the Masonic Valley Lodge 153 in the Town of Chemung.

On November 28, at approximately 7:16 p.m., deputies responded to a report that the lodge had been forcibly entered, with property stolen and damaged. The Criminal Investigation Division took over the case.

Investigators say surveillance footage showed two adults and three young children under the age of 8 approaching the building. One adult forcibly opened a door while leaving the children unattended in a vehicle. The adults then unlawfully entered the lodge, removed property, and left the scene.

As a result, 38-year-old Jennifer Malorzo and 35-year-old Nicholas Malorzo of Waverly were arrested and arraigned in Town of Chemung Court. Both were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to return to court at a later date.

The case has also been referred to Tioga County Child Protective Services due to the presence of the children during the incident and the family’s residence in that county.
