Lake Effect Snow and Gusty Winds to Blanket the Region

SHARE NOW

A wintry day is on tap in the Finger Lakes as a cold front slices through the region, dropping temperatures throughout the afternoon. Meteorologist Kevin Williams says the front, combined with a powerhouse storm that was over Lake Huron this morning, will mean several things for our region over the next few days.

“Number one, temperatures are going to tumble behind the front,” said Williams. “Number two, winds will remain very strong and gusty behind the front. And three, we’ll see flurries and lake effect snows kick in. They will be measuring the snow in feet this week in the snow belts east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.”

Kevin added that while most of the Finger Lakes won’t be seeing that level of snow, the region will get flurries and snow squalls that will freshen up the snowpack as we bring in 2026.  A wind advisory for the region is in effect through 7 p.m. Tuesday.
