The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that charges were filed on Tuesday in connection with a single-vehicle crash that occurred in July in the Town of Sodus.
Deputies originally responded on July 28 to a report of a single-car motor vehicle crash on Halcus Road, where a vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into a neighbor’s front yard. One male was transported to the hospital following the crash.
An investigation determined the vehicle was being operated by 36-year-old Cody Anderson, of Sodus, who did not possess a valid driver’s license and was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. Blood test results later showed Anderson had a blood alcohol content of 0.25 percent at the time of the crash.
On Tuesday, Anderson was located during a separate incident and formally charged in connection with the July crash. He was cited for moving from lane unsafely, failure to use a designated lane, unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, and aggravated DWI with a BAC of .18 percent or higher.
Anderson was transported to the Wayne County Jail for processing. He is scheduled to appear in Sodus Town Court on January 14.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
