A Jordan man was arrested on multiple drunken driving charges following a crash in Cayuga County.
Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that 41-year-old Trevor Heath was arrested on December 17 on charges including driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or higher, and additional traffic violations.
Deputies responded at approximately 5:45 p.m. to a motor vehicle accident near Route 31 and Lippoldt Road in the Town of Brutus. Investigators determined the vehicle had been traveling eastbound when it left the roadway on the south shoulder and came to rest in a tree line.
Heath, identified as the driver and sole occupant, was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene. Deputies then conducted standardized field sobriety tests and determined he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Heath was taken into custody at about 6:26 p.m. and transported to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building, where he provided a breath test. Authorities say the test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.24 percent.
Heath was issued uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Brutus Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
