Penn Yan Police arrested a Branchport woman on a warrant for failure to respond to an appearance ticket.
Police say 63-year-old Ruth Reid had been issued an appearance ticket following an arrest in December 2024, but failed to appear in Penn Yan Village Court on the scheduled court date. She was later apprehended on the outstanding warrant.
Reid was transported to the Yates County Jail, where she appeared in Centralized Arraignment Processing Court for arraignment on the charge.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
