Yates County Opens Applications for 2nd Round of ESD Infrastructure Grant

SHARE NOW

The Yates County Legislature discussed the second distribution of the Empire State Development infrastructure grant during Monday’s meeting, outlining the process for towns and villages to submit project applications.

Legislature members confirmed that, as in the first distribution, local municipalities must submit a proposed project for consideration. Each town or village can submit one project per application cycle, which will be reviewed by the full legislature.

The grant offers up to $500,000 for projects not including housing. For housing-related projects with fewer than 10 units, the grant can total up to $1 million, though all applications require matching funds from the submitting municipality.

County Administrator Jessica Mullins emphasized that the second distribution is a fresh application process, meaning projects previously submitted or already completed are not automatically eligible. Towns and villages are being encouraged to submit their applications promptly so they can be reviewed by February and forwarded to MRB for the April 1 deadline.

Mullins noted that this process allows for new projects and priorities to be considered, giving municipalities ample opportunity to plan and prepare proposals for the second round of funding.
