Weedsport and Jordan-Elbridge high schools will officially merge their football programs next year.
Weeks after the Weedsport School Board approved the merger at its meeting, the Jordan-Elbridge board followed with approval last Wednesday night. Discussions about combining the teams have been underway for over a year.
Weedsport recently completed its first 11-man season in eight years and is set to graduate 16 of its 24 players. Jordan-Elbridge finished last season 0-8, forfeiting its final five games due to injuries, and will lose 10 of its 21 players to graduation.
