Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that a man from Ovid was arrested Thursday afternoon for aggravated DWI.
Deputies say Douglas Griffen was taken into custody around 2:55 p.m. in the Town of Ovid following a property damage accident. An investigation found Griffen’s blood alcohol content at .22%, well above the legal limit.
Griffen was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, processed, and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Ovid Town Court to face the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
