The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Lyons man who allegedly ran from deputies and fought with them during an attempted warrant pickup.
Deputies say 39-year-old Johnathan K. Tarver was wanted on two active bench warrants issued by Lyons Town Court. The warrants stemmed from charges of third-degree criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.
According to the sheriff’s office, when deputies attempted to take Tarver into custody, he fled, ignored commands, and then physically resisted officers. As a result, he was additionally charged with another count of resisting arrest and another count of obstructing governmental administration.
Tarver was taken to the Wayne County Jail. He is due back in Lyons Town Court on January 13, 2026, for the additional charges and further proceedings.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
