Bob Kernan, former president of Seneca Falls Savings Bank (now Generations Bank), will be recognized as a community hero with the 2025 George Bailey Award during the It’s a Wonderful Life Festival on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Trinity Episcopal Church.
The award, named after the iconic character devoted to helping others, honors individuals whose contributions have left a lasting mark on Seneca Falls.
Kernan led the local bank from 1991 to 2007, growing assets by more than $230 million and expanding branches from Auburn to Farmington. Beyond banking, he has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including the National Women’s Hall of Fame, United Way of Seneca County, the Red Cross, the Boy Scouts, and the Seneca Falls Board of Education.
“Bob is a man of integrity and vision who is committed to making the community a better place,” said Brad Jones. Family members and colleagues praise his quiet dedication, crediting him for inspiring generations of community service.
The award ceremony will also serve as a farewell to Generations Bank, a local institution that has been part of Seneca Falls since 1870.
