Ovid Town Highway Superintendent Resigns

SHARE NOW

Less than two weeks after the Ovid Town Board issued a vote of no confidence in its highway superintendent, Jeremy Huff has resigned.

According to a press release issued Wednesday from Acting Town Clerk Joan Hendrix, Huff resigned effective Nov. 21, nine days after the board adopted the resolution.

The town has notified the New York State Board of Elections of the vacancy, as required by law. Under state election rules, the position will be filled during the next general election in 2026. Until then, the deputy highway superintendent will handle the responsibilities of the office.  The release added, “the Town Supervisor and Town Board remain committed to ensuring that our town roads are safe and well-maintained and that tax money is spent wisely on our local highways.”

On Nov. 12, the Town Board approved Resolution No. 9 of 2025, stating it had no confidence in Huff. The resolution cited several concerns, including failure to submit payroll and vouchers on time, incorrect budget coding, and a lack of response to official correspondence.

Town Supervisor Joe Borst offered no additional comment at the time. The statement released Wednesday said the town will not issue any further public comment at this time.
