Border Patrol Assist State Police With Missing Hunter Search

SHARE NOW

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Buffalo Sector’s Special Operations Detachment assisted New York State Police on Wednesday in the search for a missing hunter in western New York.

Agents responded to the state police command post near the area where the hunter was last seen in the woods. After receiving a briefing, Border Patrol launched a drone to support a state police K9 bloodhound team working to track the individual.

Once the bloodhound narrowed the search area to roughly the size of a football field, drone operators detected a human heat signature. Multiple agencies converged on the location. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, along with Border Patrol agents operating a Utility Terrain Vehicle, reached the individual and transported him back to the command post.

The hunter was treated by EMS and then taken to Olean General Hospital for further evaluation.
