Arrest Made in Lyons Arson Case

SHARE NOW

A man has been arrested in the town of Lyons following the New York State Police investigation in an arson that occurred at a vacant residence a week prior.

On Nov. 17 at around 5 p.m., police received a report of a structure fire at the Lyons residence, which was vacant and previously condemned by the town. State Police assisted the fire department and initiated an investigation into the cause, later determining the fire’s origin was not accidental.

On Nov. 23, State Police identified 56-year-old Douglas Lanning II of Manchester as the suspect responsible for intentionally setting the fire.

Lanning was taken into custody without incident and charged with Arson. After processing, he was transported to the Wayne County Jail for arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
