Wayne County officials gathered this week to celebrate the legacy of longtime Sheriff Richard Pisciotti, officially renaming the county’s Public Safety Building in his honor.
The facility in Lyons will now be known as the Richard J. Pisciotti Public Safety Building, recognizing Pisciotti’s 27 years of service as Wayne County sheriff. He retired in 2009 after a career marked by stability, leadership, and dedication to public service.
The ceremony drew a large crowd of law enforcement leaders, local officials, and former sheriffs. Guest speakers included Senator Pam Helming, Assemblyman Brian Manktelow, representatives from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney’s Office, and retired sheriffs Barry Virts, Ron Spike, John York, and Phil Povero.
County Court Judge Richard Healy, Board of Supervisors Chair Kim Leonard, and Public Safety Committee Chairman Lester Carr also shared remarks, highlighting the impact Pisciotti had on the county and the generations of officers he influenced.
Speakers praised Pisciotti’s nearly three decades of leadership and his long-standing commitment to strengthening public safety throughout Wayne County.
