The History Center in Tompkins County is looking for community-minded individuals interested in supporting local history, education, and public engagement to join its Board of Trustees.
The organization promotes local history through stewardship of its collections and by partnering with the community to better understand the past, gain perspective on present-day issues, and help shape the future.
Trustees provide administrative oversight for the Center, including evaluating programs and activities, supporting exhibit development, and ensuring strong financial stewardship. Board committees include Finance, Personnel, Exhibits, Collections, Board Stewardship, and Fundraising. Trustees serve three-year terms and may be reappointed for a second term.
While the Board is particularly seeking applicants with experience in education, marketing, finance or investments, and fundraising, anyone with a passion for local history is encouraged to apply.
Applications are due February 1, 2026. Interested candidates can complete the Board Application Form at thehistorycenter.net/about#trustees. Downloaded applications may be submitted by email to [email protected] or returned in person to The History Center at 110 N. Tioga Street in Ithaca, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
