A Buffalo man has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for possessing U.S. Postal Service arrow keys.
Federal prosecutors say 28-year-old Fortino Pilier was arrested in October 2024 after fleeing from a vehicle during a traffic stop conducted by Erie County sheriff’s deputies. Deputies found two postal arrow keys in his pocket after taking him into custody. The keys allow access to secure mail receptacles.
Pilier later admitted he intended to use the keys to unlawfully access mail. In addition to his 12-month prison sentence, he will serve three years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
