The Cayuga County Board of Elections has officially completed recounts in five town-level races, according to the Auburn Citizen. All of the originally reported winners were confirmed.
Cato
The recount confirmed that Gary Cole’s write-in bid to retain his position as highway superintendent was successful. Cole finished with 289 votes, securing a nine-vote lead over Republican-endorsed challenger Kevin Bratt.
Genoa
A three-way race for two Genoa town board seats also saw no change after recounting. Joe Philip led the field with 182 votes, followed by Al Armstrong with 178, securing both seats for the Republicans. Democrat Simon Ingall, who tallied 168 votes, triggered the recount because the margin for the second seat was fewer than 20 votes.
Locke
Karynn Kilts was elected Locke Town Supervisor, with the recount verifying her victory. Republican-endorsed Karynn Kilts maintained her 151–140 victory over incumbent Thane Benson. Vote totals remained unchanged.
Montezuma
A single write-in vote triggered a review in the race for two town board seats. After recounting, Christopher Howard and Thomas Coleman were confirmed as the elected candidates.
Sterling
Sterling had the closest race in the county, with just one vote initially separating the two candidates for town board. After recounting, both candidates gained additional votes, but Scott Crawford held onto a narrow lead over Catherine Byers. Crawford finished two votes ahead, securing the seat.
