Ithaca Police Officers responded to the 500 block of East Buffalo Street on Nov. 13 at around 11 p.m. after reports of an armed robbery. The victim described a known suspect to the police and made claims of being held at gunpoint while money was forcibly taken.
Investigators from the police department spotted the suspect from the robbery on Nov. 17 at around noon in the area of 600 block of West Clinton Street. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Jacob Chaires and detained for further interview.
Chaires, a resident of Ithaca, was charged with robbery in the second degree and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in place of a $10,000 cash/bond.
