Gas prices across New York inched upward this week, according to new data from AAA Western and Central New York. The state average is now $3.13 per gallon, up one cent from last Monday. One year ago, New Yorkers were paying $3.15.
Several regions are seeing small increases, while others dipped slightly:
- Batavia: $3.12 (up 1 cent)
- Buffalo: $3.17 (no change)
- Elmira: $3.00 (down 2 cents)
- Ithaca: $3.21 (down 1 cent)
- Rochester: $3.17 (down 1 cent)
- Rome: $3.16 (up 2 cents)
- Syracuse: $3.07 (up 1 cent)
- Watertown: $3.14 (up 2 cents)
Nationally, the average price remains $3.07, the same as last week — and exactly the same price drivers were paying at this time last year. Oil is currently trading in the $59–$63 per barrel range, and the Energy Information Administration reports gasoline demand dipped slightly.
AAA expects demand to rise as Thanksgiving nears. The organization projects 73.3 million people will hit the road, representing nearly 90% of all holiday travelers. That number could climb even higher if air travelers face cancellations or choose to avoid airports. AAA says 1.3 million more people are expected to drive compared to last Thanksgiving.
Diesel prices continue to rise nationwide. The national average is now $3.77, up three cents from last week. New York’s average sits at $3.90, unchanged from a week ago.
