The Keuka College women’s basketball team dropped a 74–52 decision to Fredonia State on Friday night at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) led the Wolves (1–2) with 13 points, while first-year guard Courtney Moreau (Brasher Falls, N.Y. / Brasher Falls) added 12. Brooke Burd (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood) controlled the glass with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Fredonia opened the game with a high-tempo attack to build an early lead, but Keuka stayed close thanks to strong perimeter shooting. Cotter’s second three of the quarter pulled the Wolves within 10–9. The Blue Devils extended their lead throughout the frame, though Moreau’s putback at the buzzer narrowed the gap to 24–19 after one.
Both teams went cold in the second quarter. The Wolves tightened up defensively, holding Fredonia to 3-for-17 shooting, but struggled offensively themselves. The Blue Devils outscored Keuka 13–9 to take a 37–28 advantage into halftime.
Keuka made a push early in the third, highlighted by another Cotter three that cut the deficit to 41–35. Fredonia responded quickly, stringing together three straight layups to push the lead back to double digits. The Blue Devils extended their margin to 19 by the end of the quarter and led 59–42 heading into the fourth.
Fredonia sealed the win with a 15–10 scoring edge in the final frame, handing the Wolves a 74–52 loss.
