The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will join Midlakes students for a special concert next month, led by internationally recognized conductor Gerard Floriano and featuring Midlakes graduate Lisa Albrecht.
The concert is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Midlakes High School Auditorium, 1554 State Route 488. The event is underwritten by G.W. Lisk Co. and supported by the Clifton Springs Rotary Club, with proceeds benefiting Rotary programs.
Amy Conner, vocal director at Midlakes Middle/High School, said the students are excited to perform alongside the RPO. “The concert is always so much fun. It will be a great way to kick off the holiday season. We are grateful to G.W. Lisk, Rotary, the District, and the community for helping make this event possible,” Conner said.
The program will feature a mix of seasonal music and classical orchestral pieces. Albrecht, a member of the RPO, will return to Midlakes to perform with her former classmates. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students in advance, with adult tickets $10 at the door.
Maestro Floriano, a Distinguished Professor of Music and Conducting at SUNY Geneseo, has more than three decades of experience working with young musicians. He has guest-conducted all-state ensembles across the U.S. and performed at national conferences for the American Choral Directors’ Association and the National Association for Music Educators.
Floriano has conducted throughout Europe and the United States, including the Philharmonic Orchestras of Rochester and Buffalo, and has held fellowships at the Aspen Summer Music Festival and the Oregon Bach Festival. He also served as the founding Artistic Director of Finger Lakes Opera for 13 seasons.
The concert is open to the public, offering the Midlakes community a chance to experience the RPO and celebrate the talents of local students.
