Time is running out to sign up for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County’s (CCE Cayuga County) Master Gardener Volunteer Training classes.
Designed to help participants become better and more knowledgeable gardeners while also preparing them to share their expertise with others in their community, the classes cover a variety of gardening-related topics, including lawn care, botany, diagnosing plant diseases, organic gardening, and composting.
Participants will meet once a month during the winter and spring to review material with the Master Gardener Volunteer Coordinator. Online classes allow participants to work at their own pace.
After finishing the online portion, interns will work alongside experienced Master Gardeners, completing 40 volunteer hours to gain experience.
Applications are due by December 1, and no walk-ins will be accepted. Applications can be found on CCE Cayuga County’s website. There is a $50 deposit that is refunded once the participant completes their volunteer hours.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact Frank Clarke, Master Gardener Coordinator & Agriculture Educator, at [email protected] or (315) 255-1183 ext. 103.
