The New York State Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) is investigating the death of Nathan Novakowski, who died on September 28, following an encounter with members of the New York State Police and the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office in the Town of Chemung.
As part of the ongoing investigation, OSI has released body-worn camera footage from one of the responding officers, identified as Trooper Butcher of the New York State Police.
The release of the footage is standard procedure in cases where an individual dies during an interaction with law enforcement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
